How to prevent the rotten root of Sansevieria

Sansevieria always need porous media in order to grow healthy. But sometimes you didn't notice that you might use too much media or too much water in the media. Consequently, your sansevieria's root will rotten and slowly your sansevieria collection will be dead. The rotten root of Sansevieria is caused by fungii attack. For your information, the fungii usually fertilly grow in the media with high humidity. If your sansevieria collection suffer from this rotten root symptomps, below are the tips to overcome this problem and prevent the mortality of your sansevieria collection :
  1. Separate the sansevieria from the media and clean its root.
  2. Prepare the cream for preventing the rotten root such as ditten (you can get it in the market).
  3. After the cream ready, coat it to the rotten root until the surface of the root coated perfectly with ditten.
  4. Re-plant you sansevieria to the media with good porousity, with above compositions :
    • Put the styrofoam in the lowest part of the container.
    • Make the new media consist of burnt husk, cycas, and sand in composition of 2:1:1. Put the mix on the styrofoam layer.
    • Put sufficient fertilizer (such as furadant and decastar) on the media. You also need calcium to make your sansevieria healthy.
    • Put your sansevieria coated with anti rot cream to the container.
    • Put the rest of the media to cover the root and remember not to put excessive media in it.
  5. Spray some water to your sansevieria collection. Remember to use the sprayer to avoid too much humidity in the media.
